Introduction

Three years ago I filled a backpack and took off across Canada on an epic cross-country-adventure-via-train , and my final destination, when all was said and done, was Calgary, Alberta.

Growing up in more of a fishin' town environment, I was reluctant to reside in a landlocked town of cowboy hats, oil money and yee-haw! So why did I do it?

For shits and giggles.

Really, I just wanted to see what it was like to live in another city, and Calgary affords many opportunities for those who are willing to get out there and get 'em.

In other words - money ain't a thang!

Having a decent income and leisurely lifestyle, I was able to dedicate much of my time to food research. Many hours were spent doing google research, collecting opinions, and food questing around Calgary to find the best spots for eatin'. Although my preliminary impression was that Calgary was a wasteland for good food (Calgarians REALLY like chain restaurants and ranch dressing), it turns out that Calgary is FULL of awesome restaurants - you just have to know where to go (and who to ask!).

I will be doing my best here to compile my research of the Best of Calgary - mostly things to eat, but also a few other fun things to check out.

My disclaimer is, of course, that this is a personal blog containing my personal opinions and limited experiences. Also, anything that opened or closed beyond May 21, 2012 is beyond my control, but I appreciate any feedback you have to give me.

Keep checking in, as I will be reporting on pizza, hamburgers, brunch spots, sushi, late-night eats, and other random stuff.
